Crimson Cathedral

Overview

A ruined cathedral floating upon crimson waters known as the Sea of Blood, at the eastern edge of the Fusion Continent. Once among the most sacred places of prayer to the Machine God, it was laid waste by the Holy War a thousand years past. Now it stands as a forgotten sanctuary where only the mechanical saint Reliquia Sanguinea remains.

Environment

The red waters are not blood. Yet none who knew their true nature still draw breath.
The cathedral walls are wrought of rusted iron and crumbling stone, the ceiling collapsed to reveal the crimson sky above.
Shallow water covers the floor, and visitors’ footsteps spread eerie ripples through the silence.

Ancient records speak of these waters connecting to the “Crimson Abyss” deep underground.
Like the tides, the water level is said to fluctuate ever so slightly.

Guardian

At the cathedral’s heart, before the altar, stands the mechanical saint Reliquia Sanguinea.
Having lost her creator, yet praying still—is her form the ultimate expression of faith, or proof of bondage?
The bone wings sprouting from her back occasionally tremble faintly, resonating with the creaking of metal.

Ancient Texts

From records of the eve of the Holy War:
“In the Crimson Cathedral, the final sacred body was created. The name given to her was Reliquia—meaning relic, or holy remains.”

From a machine priest’s journal:
“Are the red waters the blood of machines, or the tears of god? Reliquia answers not. She only continues to question.”

Mysteries

The stairs leading beneath the cathedral are somehow filled with red water.
What lies beyond, none have confirmed.
Yet at midnight, they say a faint pulsing sound can be heard from below.

  • Reliquia Sanguinea
  • The Holy War
  • Mechanical Saints
  • Cathedral of Blood (former name)
